It is the intent of the Legislature in enacting this article to generate and encourage the development of educational programs for the prevention of genetic diseases, disorders, and birth defects, in grades 7 through 12, and thereby to reduce the annual incidence of genetic diseases, disorders, and birth defects through preventive educational programs.
