There is, in the County of San Luis Obispo, a Citizens Redistricting Commission. In the year following the year in which the decennial federal census is taken, the commission shall adjust the boundary lines of the supervisorial districts of the board in accordance with this chapter.

If the commission is unable to act because it has fewer than seven voting commission members, within one month of such determination that the commission cannot act, the county elections official shall select a replacement from the pool of remaining qualified candidates from the initial commission member selection process. To the greatest extent practicable, the newly selected commission member shall have the same political party preference as the commission member who vacated their position.
