A successor agency, pursuant to Section 20508, for the Humboldt No. 1 Fire Protection District and City of Eureka Fire Department may provide employees the defined benefit plan or formula that those employees received from their respective employer prior to the annexation. This section is applicable to all employees of the Humboldt No. 1 Fire Protection District who were employed at the time of annexation and remain employed at the successor agency on January 1, 2026.
