Whenever there is consideration of an area within a development for a public schoolsite, the advisory agency shall give the affected districts and the State Department of Education written notice of the proposed site. The written notice shall include the identification of any existing or proposed runways within the distance specified in Section 17215 of the Education Code. If the site is within the distance of an existing or proposed airport runway as described in Section 17215 of the Education Code, the department shall notify the State Department of

Transportation as required by the section and the site shall be investigated by the State Department of Transportation required by Section 17215.
