The Department of Fish and Game may make grants to nonprofit organizations, political subdivisions of the state, and Indian tribes to cooperate with the department in salmon and steelhead rehabilitation along the north coast of California.

The Director of Fish and Game may establish criteria for the awarding of these grants to applicants who demonstrate the greatest expertise in accomplishing the salmon and steelhead rehabilitation projects.
