Within 45 days after the board approves the report, it shall call a district election for the purpose of determining whether the recommendation and report shall be adopted.

The election shall be noticed, held, and conducted and the result determined and declared in all respects as nearly as possible as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 42325) of Chapter 2 of this part.
