§ 14137.8

Added by Stats. 1992, Ch. 442, Sec. 2. Effective January 1, 1993.

Approval of a request for acute inpatient care shall be solely dependent upon the medical necessity for this care, as documented in the proposed treatment plan. Treatment with Investigational New Drugs, clinical trials, or other ancillary or investigational services, if medical necessity is otherwise documented, shall not in itself be construed to be part of a research study protocol, and shall not constitute grounds for denial on that basis.
