§ 14132.6

External prostheses constructed of silicon or other comparable materials, prosthetic implants, and reconstructive surgery incident to mastectomy shall be deemed medically necessary and shall be covered under this chapter. As used in this section, “mastectomy” means the removal of all or part of the breast for medically necessary reasons, as determined by a licensed physician and surgeon.

Coverage under this section shall include the provision of initial and subsequent prosthetic devices pursuant to an order of the patient’s physician.
