The reimbursement rate for any three or more laboratory services for the same patient on the same day, which are commonly performed in an automated manner, as defined by the department, shall be reimbursed at the rate established for automated services. The director shall exempt from this provision laboratory services performed for urgent medical reasons or in rural areas, as defined by the department, if performed as individual tests.
