Chapter 1 - Unintentional Injury Study and Control - California Health and Safety Code

Added by Stats. 1995, Ch. 415, Sec. 5. Effective January 1, 1996.

The department may maintain a program of accidental injury study and control, including but not limited to, all of the following:

(a)The conduct of studies to determine the health and human components of accidental injury.

(b)The study of factors associated with prompt and efficient emergency treatment of accidental injuries.

(c)The study of human and environmental factors in the occurrence of accidental injury.

(d)The development of control programs to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental injuries resulting from health and other human factors, either alone or in combination with environmental factors.

(e)Consultation with and assistance to local health departments and other agencies in the development and maintenance of programs for the prevention and control of accidental injuries.

The department may enter into agreements with any public or private organization, agency, or individual to carry out its duties and responsibilities with respect to accidental injury study and control. In any situation where these activities may duplicate or overlap the activities of another state department or agency, the department shall confer with that department or agency in order to avoid duplication.
